DocWithBowtie’s New Year’s Resolutions

  1. I’m becoming a father in 2025, and I want to be the best father I can be to the new life that my wife and I created.

  2. Be the best doctor I can be to my patients.

  3. Continue making fun digital media content for the Journal of Hospital Medicine.

  4. Make it the best year yet for my band and for me as a drummer.

  5. We haven’t taken many big trips since 2020 besides conferences. While the baby will probably limit that, we at least need to start planning some getaways - specifically the time off from work to actually take those.

  6. I'm decent about exercising, but would like to stay consistent or increase the amount.

  7. Read more of my friends/colleagues’ books that I bought to support them but haven’t actually dived into yet.

  8. Maintain a pace of about 30 books a year with podcasts in between, though that is still not enough (again, we’ll see what baby allows).

  9. Fight back as much disinformation from Trump’s cabinet nominees as possible, especially on health-related topics.

    1. Specifically learning from dieticians because hyper focus on ingredients and myths about banned additives is not helpful to actual change in American healthcare.

  10. Honor Jimmy Carter’s actual legacy (not the critical one Republicans and evangelicals ascribed to him) and make sure Joe Biden gets the same treatment (while still criticizing his aid in Benjamin Netanyahu’s genocide and lack of objective approach to Gaza).

  11. Push back on AmeriJesus evangelicals and Republican talking points so Christianity is not represented by its worst manipulators.

  12. Defend what reproductive rights we still have and educate as to why it’s important to get better reproductive justice and healthcare access for everyone, especially women.

  13. Continue to debunk anti-vaccine myths.

  14. Write more, both here and in larger distribution to fight disinformation.

  15. Make more videos to address all of these.
